On Monday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to LA Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California to face off against the red-hot Rams. This Monday Night Football matchup will kick off at 8:15 PM. ET.
The Rams (9-1) are one of the most exciting teams in the entire league. They’ve taken the NFL by storm and under second-year head coach, Sean McVay, have shown that they’re ready to make the leap to Super Bowl favorites.
The Chiefs (9-1) will not be overshadowed by the Rams in this game. Under Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have exploded offensively, putting up a staggering amount of points. A lot will be made of this quarterback matchup and for good reason, Mahomes and Goff are both guiding likely league Championship teams.
If the Saints don’t get in the Rams way, this could very likely be a Super Bowl preview. Get your popcorn ready. This game is certainly going to be entertaining.
The Rams are the second-best team in the NFC.
That’s a hard thing to claim about a team that’s only lost one game this season. That one loss came at the hands of New Orleans on the road.
On Sunday Night, the Saints obliterated last years’ Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Rams are in a dead-heat with the Saints for the number one seed in the NFC playoffs, and due to their loss lose the head-to-head tiebreaker.
The Rams are offensively a team that can compete with anyone, but defensively they’ve lacked elite play.
According to NFL Stats, the Rams rank third in total points just behind Kansas City and New Orleans.
Los Angeles ranks 2nd in the NFL in terms of rushing touchdowns and rushing yards.
The Rams offense might be guided by Jared Goff, but the team’s offense is driven by running back Todd Gurley.
On the season, Gurley has rushed for 988 yards on 198 carries. Gurley leads the league in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and rushing attempt per game. Outside of Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints, Gurley is easily in a class all his own. In terms of pure running style, Gurley’s greatness is unmatched.
The Chiefs are the class of the AFC.
Kansas City is the best team in the AFC having lost only once on the road at New England. Fortunately for the Chiefs, they have a sizable lead over the rest of the conference.
Kansas City cannot afford a loss, though. Several AFC teams have winning streaks of four or more games. The Chiefs have excelled through the first half of the season, but the second half of the season is what separates the contenders from the pretenders.
While Kansas City is certainly a contender, now’s not the time to stumble. According to NFL Stats, the Chiefs have the 2nd ranked offense in the NFL. By contrast, their defense ranks 30th in total yards allowed but ranks 17th in points allowed. While their defense leaves a lot to be desired, expect the Chiefs’ offense to outscore most of their opponents.
Patrick Mahomes is having a year for the ages. On the season, Mahomes leads the league in touchdown passes. Through 10 weeks, Mahomes has thrown 31 touchdowns to 7 interceptions. He’s completed 11 passes of 40+ yards and is completing 67 percent of his passes. His arm strength is unquestionable; the Chiefs will go as far as this kid can take them.
Chiefs Vs Rams Betting Lines
BetOnline.ag has the Rams favored to win the game by -3.5 points. The over/under on total points scored is 62. You can read our full BetOnline review here.
My Pick
This is the game of the year. These two high potent offenses will likely duke it out all night. The over/under in this game is 62 points. The Chiefs have a tremendously dynamic offense, but the same cannot be said for their defense. With little to no resistance from the Chiefs’ defense, expect this game to hit the over.
The Rams have a better defense than the Chiefs but in a game like this, with two superb offenses, don’t expect either defense to show up. Even in their lone loss this season, the Chiefs made a tremendous effort to come back with time expiring.
The Rams might be the better team, but the Chiefs with Mahomes under center look nearly invincible. The Rams might win this game, but if the Chiefs do lose it won’t be by more than a point. Go with the Chiefs to upset the Rams on the road.
