Points Spread
The point spread is the most common bet on NFL games. You will hear the spread talked about by analysts for every NFL game. The spread is the amount of points a team is favored to win by in the game.
In the above example the Baltimore Ravens are 3 point underdogs (+3), while the Chiefs are 3 point favorites (-3).
- Ravens spread bets win if the Ravens win the game outright or lose by 2 or fewer points.
- Chiefs spread bets win if the Chiefs win the game by 4 or more points.
- Spread bets push (are returned) if the Chiefs win the game by exactly 3 points.
Money Line
The money line is a straight forward bet on which team will win the game. The odds associated with each team indicate the risk vs reward of the bet based on each teams perceived chance of winning the game. In the above example the Chiefs are -144 favorites, which means you would have to risk $144 to win $100 (payout $244) betting on Kansas City. The Ravens are +124 underdogs, which means a $100 bet on the Ravens would win $124 (payout $224) if the Ravens pull off the upset.
Total (Over/Under)
The final column in the above screenshot shows the odds for the total. This is a bet on the number of points to be scored in the game by both teams.
In the above example the total is set at 46 points.
- Over bets win if 47 or more points are scored.
- Under bets win if 45 or fewer points are scored.
- Total bets push (are returned) if exactly 46 points are scored.
