Unbeaten heavyweight hopeful Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller of Brooklyn, New York continues on the comeback trail as he meets Ebenezer Tetteh of Accra, Ghana this Sunday, October 2nd. The 10-round fight will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Miller last fought in July when he stopped Derek Cardenas in the fourth round. Tetteh last saw action in March when he halted Haruna Osamanu after the sixth round to win the vacant WBA Pan African Heavyweight Belt.

The 34-year-old Miller will enter the ring with a near-perfect record of 25-0-1 with 21 Ko’s. This will be his third fight this year, all since June, after being out of the ring for almost four years because of failed drug tests. He was due to meet Anthony Joshua before failing tests in 2019 and failed tests again in 2020 when he was scheduled to meet Jerry Forrest. His first fight back was in June in Argentina when he beat Ariel Bracamonte via a 10-round unanimous decision after having a point deducted in the fourth round.
Miller’s a good-sized heavyweight at 6-feet-4-inches tall with a reach of 78 inches, but entered the ring just over 341 lbs against Bracamonte and just over 328 lbs in his last outing against Cardenas. He’s not the typical muscle-bound heavyweight, but his body shape has worked for him so far so he’s not expected to make any drastic changes in the near future. He’s also a former kickboxer who was a legitimate top-10 contender a few years ago.
Miller has better-than-average power as his knockout ratio currently stands at 80.8 per cent. He turned pro in 2009 after a brief but successful amateur career and has 103 rounds under his belt since. He hasn’t fought any top-ranked foes as his biggest wins have been against a 41-year-old Tomasz Adamek as well Bogdan Dinu, Johann Duhaupas, Akhror Muralimov, Donovan Dennis, Gerald Washington, Fred Kassi and Mariusz Wach. The lone draw on his record is a four-round affair with Joey Dawelko in 2013.
Tetteh is 34 years old and is also known for his power with a record of 21-1 with 17 KO’s for a current stoppage ratio of 81 per cent. He’s also known for being stopped in 130 seconds by Daniel Dubois in 2019 in a shot at the Commonwealth and vacant WBO International Heavyweight Titles. There’s no official listing for his height and reach so it’s hard to compare him to Miller. Tetteh has also fought as a light heavyweight and cruiserweight earlier in his career and there’s a great chance he’ll be giving up a few pounds to Miller as the heaviest the African has weighed in for a bout was just over 239 lbs in his last outing.
He turned pro in 2012 and has boxed 91 rounds since. Tetteh has fought outside of Ghana just once and that was the loss to Dubois in England. Most of his opponents are unrecognizable but he won the vacant WBA Pan African Light Heavyweight Title in 2014 with a first-round TKO over Maxwell Amponsah. He then captured the vacant Ghana Boxing Authority Cruiserweight Belt with a unanimous decision over George Amuzu and the vacant WBO African Heavyweight Crown in 2017 with a second-round KO over Boniface Kabore.
Prediction…
Anything can happen here since both boxers have tons of power and Miller is trying to fight his way back into shape. Tetteh doesn’t have much experience against contenders though and this could be his downfall. However, if he can land a bomb on Miller’s jaw things could get interesting. Still, I’m expecting Miller to take this.
Tetteh has a puncher’s chance and that’s about it.
