Wardley vs Clarke Betting Odds

Here are the betting odds from online sportsbook BetOnline.ag (full review here).

  • Frazer Clarke +110
  • Fabio Wardley – 140

My Pick

The 29-year-old Wardley of Ipswich, England, climbs into the ring with a near-perfect mark of 17-0-1 with 16 Ko’s and has just 61 rounds of experience under his belt since turning pro in 2017. Power is obviously the name of his game as 94.1 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. The only man other than Clarke to go the distance with him was Jakub Wojkicback in April, 2017 in Wardley’s debut. He stands 6-feet-5-inches tall with a 78-inch reach and is managed by fellow heavyweight Dillian Whyte.

Wardley won the vacant British Heavyweight Title in August 2020 by stopping Simon Vallily in the third round and has also defended it against Nick Webb, Nathan Gorman and David Adeleye. He also has wins over Eric Molina, Michael Polite Coffie, Daniel Martz, Richard Lartey, Dennis Lewandowski and Chris Healey.

The 33-year-old Clarke makes the ring walk with a mark of 8-0-1 with 6 Ko’s and has only 44 rounds of pro experience to his name since making his debut in 2022 and 28 of those rounds came in his last three fights against Wardley, Dave Allen and Mariusz Wach. He’s stopped Jake Darnell in one round, Ariel Bracamonte in two, Pencho Tsvetkov in one, Kevin Espinodla in four and Bogdan Dinu in two while being taken the six-round distance by Kamil Sokolowski, 10 rounds by Wach and 12 by Wardley. Clarke’s first five opponents entered the ring with a combined record of 36-40 while Dinu, Allen, Wach and Wardley were all a step up in class.

Clarke stands 6-feet-6-inches tall with a 78-inch reach which gives him an inch edge in height over Wardley. He’s also shown great power as a pro as with a 75 per cent knockout ratio in his victories. Clarke won numerous medals as an amateur where he had wins over Lenier Pero, Sergey Kuzmin and Tony Yoka but was stopped by Joe Joyce a couple of times as well as being beaten on points by Joyce. He also lost decisions to Yoka, Joseph Parker, Otto Wallin and Anthony Joshua.

Prediction…

Wardley has enough power to stop just about anybody and he came close to achieving that feat against Clarke earlier this year but couldn’t finish him off. Clarke has fine power himself but Wardley was able to withstand his blows as well. Both boxers had their moments in the first fight but Clarke arguably outboxed Wardley. If this fight comes down to boxing skills I give Clarke the edge but if it turns into a toe-to-toe brawl I favour Wardley. No finish would be a surprise here and if it’s half as good as their first fight then the fans are in for a treat. I give Wardley the slight edge though due to his power.

Wardley has greater power.
