Azim vs Davies Betting Odds

Here are the betting odds from online sportsbook BetOnline.ag (full review here).

  • Ohara Davies +600
  • Adam Azim -1000

My Pick

Azim is just 22 years old and climbs through the ropes with a perfect record of 11-0 with 8 Ko’s. He’s known as a powerful puncher as his current knockout ratio stands at 72.7 per cent. He’s halted his last two opponents but went the distance in his previous two bouts. Azim turned pro in 2020 following a good amateur career which saw him reportedly win 10 national titles and being ranked the world’s top welterweight youth amateur. He currently has 51 rounds of pro experience under his belt.

As a pro, Azim captured the vacant WBC Youth Inter-Continental Super Lightweight Title in 2022 when he stopped Anthony Loffet in 66 seconds. He then won the European Crown last November with a 10th-round TKO over Franck Petitjean after dropping him in the fifth round. He’ll be taking a step up in class against Davies but seems well prepared for the test due to his skill and power. Azim stands 5-feet-10-inches tall with an unlisted reach so has a two-inch height advantage on Davies.

The 32-year-old Davies makes the ring walk with a mark of 25-3 with 18 Ko’s and has 144 rounds of pro experience under his belt since making his pro debut in 2014. He measures 5-feet-8-inches tall and also has an unlisted reach. As far as power is concerned, Davies has enough of it in his arsenal as 72 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage, including his last two and four of his last six.

Davies’ first career defeat came at the hands of Josh Taylor by seventh-round TKO in 2017 in a shot at the Commonwealth, and WBC Silver Super Lightweight Titles. He had won the WBC Belt two fights earlier via a 12-round unanimous nod over Andrea Scarpa and defended it against Derry Mathews with a third-round TKO. Davies was also beaten by Jack Catteral via a 12-round unanimous decision in 2018 in an attempt at the WBO Inter-Continental Super Lightweight Crown.

Since turning pro Davies has captured the WBC International Super Lightweight Title by stopping Paul Kamanga in the second round in 2018 as well as the vacant British Lightweight Belt in 2016 by halting Andy Keates in the fourth round. He also has wins over the likes of Chris Truman, Prince Ofotsu, Zoltan Szabo, Tom Farrell, Miguel Vazquez, Tyrone McKenna and Jeff Ofori.

Prediction…

Davies and Azim both carry plenty of power and Davies has been stopped twice. Therefore, this fight has the potential of changing with just one punch and let’s not forget Davies lasted less than two minutes in his last fight before kissing the canvas. Davies has far more experience against upper-level opponents but has struggled when taking a step up in class with losses to Barroso, Jack Caterall and Josh Taylor. This is an interesting matchup but considering their ages and recent performances I’ll lean towards the younger Azim.

I think power and chins will be the deciding factor.
