My Pick
Tetteh is 36 years old and is known for his power due to an impressive record of 23-2 with 20 Ko’s. He’s got a lot of power in his punches as 86.7 per cent of his victories have come by stoppage, including his last 10. His first defeat was by stoppage as Daniel Dubois blasted him out in just 130 seconds back in 2019 in a shot at the vacant Commonwealth and WBO International Heavyweight Belts. He was also stopped by Dillian Whyte in his last outing so Tetteh has gone the distance just three times as a pro. This is just his his sixth fight since losing to Dubois six years ago. He made his pro debut back in 2012 and has fought just 107 rounds due to his power and susceptible chin.
While he may possess a fine record, Tetteh’s only recognizable opponents have been Dubois and Whyte and he was stopped by both of them. There’s no official listing for his height and reach so it’s hard to compare him to Clarke size-wise. This will be his second straight fight and just his third overall outside of Africa as the loss to Dubois came in England and Whyte stopped him in Gilbraltar. Tetteh did manage to win the vacant WBA Pan African Light Heavyweight Title in 2014 with a first-round TKO over Maxwell Amponsah.
He then captured the vacant WBO African Heavyweight Crown in 2017 with a second-round KO over Boniface Kabore. It looks like Tetteh started out as a light heavyweight, then moved up to cruiserweight for a few fights and settled in the heavyweight division. He weighed close to 234 lbs for a fight in November, 2022 then dropped down to 198 for a bout a year later and back up to 248 for his last contest in December.
The 33-year-old Clarke makes the ring walk with a mark of 8-1-1 with 6 Ko’s and has only 45 rounds of pro experience to his name since making his debut in 2022 and 29 of those rounds came in his last four fights, which were against Wardley, Dave Allen and Mariusz Wach. He’s stopped Jake Darnell in one round, Ariel Bracamonte in two, Pencho Tsvetkov in one, Kevin Espinodla in four and Bogdan Dinu in two while being taken the six-round distance by Kamil Sokolowski, 10 rounds by Wach and 12 by Wardley.
Clarke’s first five opponents entered the ring with a combined record of 36-40 while Dinu, Allen, Wach and Wardley were all a step up in class. Clarke stands 6-feet-6-inches tall with a 78-inch reach and has also shown great power as a pro as with a 75 per cent knockout ratio in his victories. Clarke won numerous medals as an amateur where he had wins over Lenier Pero, Sergey Kuzmin and Tony Yoka but was stopped by Joe Joyce a couple of times as well as being beaten on points by Joyce. He also lost decisions to Yoka, Joseph Parker, Otto Wallin and Anthony Joshua.
Prediction…
Both men have enough power to stop just about anybody but they’ve both struggled when stepping up in class. Clarke has the better boxing skills but if the fight turns into a toe-to-toe brawl then it’s up for grabs. Tetteh gave Whyte some anxious moments last December but ran out of gas. He has a chance here though if he catches Clarke early. No finish would be a surprise here but I give Clarke the slight edge though due to his superior boxing skills.
Clarke is a better overall boxer.
