Unbeaten Leo Santa Cruz of Mexico will defend his WBC Jr. Featherweight Title against Cesar Seda of Puerto Rico of at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas this Saturday, December 14 . The 12-round bout will be broadcast across America on the Showtime network and can be seen in Canada on Super Channel. The 25-year-old champion stopped Victor Terrazas in the third round in his last outing while the 27-year-old Seda is riding a five-bout winning streak.
Seda’s a pretty good boxer, but he’s been fighting most of his career in the lower weight divisions. Santa Cruz is an aggressive and exciting boxer who loves to attack the body and is quickly becoming a fan favourite with his non-stop style. Seda’s durable and can take a good shot, but he might be in a little over his head here as Santa Cruz is a step up in class for him.
Santa Cruz has put together a perfect record of 25-0-1 so far in his career and has 15 Kos to his name. Seda has lost just once and will enter the ring with an impressive record of 25-1 with 17 Kos. He has decent power and this could certainly help him out on Saturday as he’ll need to gain the champion’s respect to keep him from walking through him. Seda’s only loss came back in 2011 when he lost a decision to Omar Narvaez in a junior bantamweight bout.
This is Santa Cruz’s first defence of the title as he won it back in August when he stopped Terrazas. He’ll find his Puerto Rican opponent is a slick-boxing southpaw who moves around the ring well and has good hand speed. He may be a slightly better boxer than Santa Cruz, but the champion doesn’t usually engage in boxing matches as he’s out to stop his opponents, usually via his brutal body attack.
Seda will attempt to frustrate Santa Cruz with his mobility and hand speed, but also needs to be prepared for an onslaught at anytime by the champion. The strength of his chin and body will be big factors in this bout and if he can take Santa Cruz’s best shots he has a chance at taking this fight by a decision.

Prediction
This should be another crowd-pleasing fight as Santa Cruz is so active every round. He just keeps coming forward and throwing punches and doesn’t stop until he breaks his opponent down. He’s very accurate with his punches and the pressure is basically relentless. Seda has the power to grab his attention if he can catch Santa Cruz coming in. But in the long run it’s going to be hard to keep the champion off of him. This fight could go the distance and it could end by a stoppage in the second half of it. Either way, Santa Cruz keeps his title.
