Amir Mansour vs Kelvin Price Preview December 14
Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Amir Mansour will be taking on Kelvin Price in a 10-round bout in Atlantic City, New Jersey this Saturday, December 14 in the feature contest on NBC Sports Net. The 41-year-old Mansour hails from Wilmington, Delaware and will enter the ring with a perfect record of 19-0 along with 14 Kos to his name. Price of Florida brings a record of 14-1 with him into the fight along with six Kos.
Mansour may not be too well known to many boxing fans since he’s been behind bars for most of the last dozen years. He turned pro back in 1997, but didn’t fight between June of 2001 and August of 2010. However, he’s gone 10-0 since returning to the ring and seems to be intent on catching up on lost time. In this time he’s beaten some name opponents such as Jason Gavern, Dominick Guinn and Maurice Harris. Mansour’s not a big heavyweight as he’s about six feet tall, but his southpaw stance has proved to be awkward for all of his opponents up to now.
Mansour has a lot of power in his hands, knows how to keep his distance and his mobility and footwork aren’t too bad at all. He’ll be taking on the 38-year-old Price, who’s quite a bit bigger at 6-foot-7 inches tall, but he doesn’t possess much in the way of power as we can see by his half dozen knockouts. Price does have a decent jab though, but his chin could prove to be a problem against a big banger like Mansour the same way it was against Deontay Wilder.
Price was stopped by Wilder in the third round back in December of 2012 for his one and only career loss. In the meantime he’s beaten ageing journeyman Danny Williams by a decision in May and is hoping to make it two in a row over Mansour. He also has six-round decision wins over Tor Hamer and Julius Long since turning pro back in 2007.

Prediction
Mansour may be older and smaller, but he’s the better boxer overall. He’ll need to work his way to the inside to catch Price though due to the height and reach difference. Mansour also has quite a bit more power and when you add up all of the intangibles its looks like it’s going to be a tough night for Price. This could be a bit of a letdown in terms of excitement as Mansour may try to get in and land and then get out as quick as he can or tie Price up. Price needs to use his size advantage to be successful and catch the smaller opponent with solid shots while he’s moving in. Eventually, look for Mansour to have his way and put an end to the bout in the second half.
